General FAQs
What Is a CAE/IPI Number?
Your songwriter identity
A CAE/IPI number is a unique international identification number assigned to songwriters, composers, and music publishers.
What it stands for
CAE stands for Compositeur, Auteur, Editeur (Composer, Author, Publisher). IPI stands for Interested Parties Information. The IPI system replaced the older CAE system, but both terms are still used interchangeably in the industry.
How to get one
You receive a CAE/IPI number when you register as a songwriter or publisher with a Performing Rights Organization (PRO) such as ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, PRS, or SOCAN. The number is assigned automatically as part of the registration process.
Why it matters
Your CAE/IPI number links you to your musical works in global databases. It ensures that when your music is performed, broadcast, or synced, the royalties are properly tracked and paid to the correct person. Including this number in your Audiovybez profile helps us process sync licenses accurately.
